Kraft Paper strips with adhesive on one side / both sides are wound on the mandrel continuously to form paper core / tubes. Normally kraft paper with higher COBB and higher GSM are used for Paper Core applications. For Paper Tubes lower GSM kraft are used. Machines speeds depend up on the thickness of Core / Tube and model of spiral winding machine. Typically speed varies between 5 to 100 linear meters per minute depending on machine.
One of the most significant quality parameter of paper cores / tube is CS. Lower Compression could be because of many reason. Suboptimal lamination of kraft layers is common cause for the lowever CS. Apart form Ply-Bond , COBB and spiral winding machine , adhesives play very important role in defining the CS.

Role of Adhesives in Core / Tube Compression value

Assembly of ply one over the other is basic operation. Theoretically contact area of fibers of two layers is very low. Adhesives fills the gaps between the payers and penetrate both the layers. Even Though this penetration may not cross 20 microns , it is significant to hold both the layers together. Tack of adhesive defines the speed at which machines can run assuming all other conditions remaining the same. To get appropriate bonding there needs to be balance between paper parameters like COBB , formation, ply-bond GS etc with glue properties like viscosity , solids , flow , tack etc. Lamination of plies in the middle , top and inner area of core is different. Even poor lamination in few layers can cause drastic fall in compression value.

Product Range

Amylodex has formulated high performance adhesive powders under the name of Dexgum Powder. It gives good adhesion even in suboptimal specifications. Wide range of products are available to suit every type of machine and every type of paper and varying speeds . Within the range of products we offer many grades depending up on solids and viscosity.

Traditional Hot water soluble Yellow Dextrin Based Adhesive Powders - These are Borated fine Yellow Dextrin based products. These needs to be cocked and have excellent flow at very high viscosity. Can virtually be used for any paper.

Cold Water Soluble Dextrin based High pH Adhesive Powders - These adhesives are based on Dextrins and high dosage of Caustic. These are typically very high tack glues suited for very bad papers. If offers excellent drying characters with better CS.

Hybrid Adhesive Powders based on Special Dextrins and PVA formulations - Hybrid Adhesives are blend of Dextrins and Poly Vinyl Alcohol grades. The products boasts of advantage of Dextrin and special lamination characters of PVA. Suits very high speed machines of above 40 mtr/ min speed for tubes.

Very high solid (60 to 70%) filler based Adhesive Powders - With the intention to bring down the lead time between manufacturing core and dispatching to customers , this grade is introduced. It gives good weight to core , instantly dries and ready to send to customers. It will save very precious space in factory and remove inventory.

Water resistant Resin & Dextrin based Adhesive Powders - Need for water resistant bonding arose because of some sub Zero temperature application of tubes. Special imported resins are used to bring water resistance to adhesives. Cores will not absorb moisture after manufacturing and CS would not drop. Resin will increase the CS by at least 10%.

Above products are available in Tapioca Starch base and Maize Starch base. Even though Potato starch base is not made , same can be provided with more lead time. Amylodex manufacture paper core / Paper tube adhesive powder under the name of Dexgum Powder. These adhesives give excellent bonding even at sub-optimal conditions.
