Higher GSM , higher COBB Kraft is wound in conical shape like convolute tubes.Unlike spiral winding , every piece of paper is cut and glue is applied on one side wound on conical pneumatic / mechanical cylinder. Excess glue is automatically scarped. The cones are then trimmed and bullnosed on shorter diameter side. Depending upon type of operation and drying arrangements production speed can go up to 60 cones / minute. The cones needs to hold shape as soon as possible and dry faster.

Compression values and proper lamination are prime requirements of cone manufacturing. Even though ply bond of paper is determining factor, adhesive and lamination play important role. If the adhesive is not good cone can not achieve theoretical CS.

Our solutions for Cone Application

Traditionally cooked and very high viscosity glues are applied.These needs to be dried for longer periods in natural sunlight / chain dryers. Adhesives for cones needs to set fast and texture should be such that excess glue is scrapped. Finishing depends on proper lamination apart from paper formation and buffing. We are currently offering cold water soluble Maize Starch based alkaline adhesives and hot water soluble Maize Starch based products. Shortly we will be bringing in Neutral pH glues for this application.
